2018. Viking becomes new UK distributor of Sailun tyres.
2018. Launch of new and improved e-commerce website, optimised to provide a clear user experience and created to adapt to all web browsers and devices.
2014. Together with Barum, Viking hold a competition amongst their customers to boost the sale of the new Barum Bravuris tyre by giving away a brand new car.
2013. Viking International secure the sole distributorship for Rovelo Tyres.
2013. 40th Anniversary
2013. Continental Tyres commit to the increased availability of Barum Tyres to Viking International who have now been the sole UK distributors for over twenty years, Barum is one of the Largest private brands sold in the UK.
2012. Viking International secures the sole distributorship for Westlake Tyres who are manufactured by the World’s Tenth Largest Tyre Company.
2005 to 2010. Warehouse capacity at Viking International’s warehouses continues to be enlarged and the Edinburgh warehouse is relocated to a new much larger facility.
2005. Warehouse capacity at Viking International’s Tonbridge warehouse is doubled to hold 70,000 tyres.
2003. 30th Anniversary
2002. Axle Group Holdings purchases Viking International from the Continental Group.
2001. Viking International employs over 250 personnel and operates 100 vans from its eight warehouses, offering not only a next day service, but up to three deliveries per day in some areas.
2000. Birkenshaw International and Viking Tyres (UK) Ltd merge creating Viking International.
2000. Birkenshaw International sells 1,000,000 tyres in a single trading year.
1999. Viking Tyres (UK) Ltd sells 1,000,000 tyres in a single trading year and extends its warehousing by 30,000 sq.ft. by opening a new site near Tonbridge (Kent).
1992 to 1997. Birkenshaw International further expands to include warehouses in Edinburgh, Manchester & Gateshead.
1993. 20th Anniversary
1991. Birkenshaw International is the first UK wholesaler to sell car tyres with a Lifetime Guarantee.
1990. Birkenshaw International opens a warehouse in Liverpool.
1988. East Midland Tyre Company, a regional tyre wholesaler based in Desborough is acquired by Viking Tyres UK Ltd.
1986. The Liverpool wholesaler, Northern Tyre Service is acquired by Viking Tyres (UK) Ltd who also secure the distribution of Gislaved Tyres with Birkenshaw International continuing to have the exclusive Gislaved Distributorship in Scotland.
1983. Birkenshaw International acquires a Preston based wholesaler.
1983. 10th Anniversary
1980. Birkenshaw Distributors Ltd is renamed Birkenshaw International and commences distributing Gislaved tyres in Scotland.
1978. Birkenshaw Distributors Ltd is established in Glasgow to distribute tyres to independent retailers and Smiley Tyres & Exhausts.
1973. Viking Tyres (which later became part of the Continental Tyre Group) set up a UK subsidiary, Viking Tyres (UK) Ltd in Didcot to be the sole importer of the Viking Tyre brand in the UK.
