Viking International Continues Growth
With a heritage stretching back over 30 years, Viking International continues to improve its service and product offering with major developments completed in all areas of the business to ensure customers receive the very best quality of service.
Viking International offers a comprehensive tyre range to suit all customer requirements from budget to premium. In response to customer demand and market trends, the past two years has seen a significant increase in both the premium and 4x4 tyre ranges. The launch of the Millennium ultra high performance range in 2006 was a huge success, and to satisfy the budget end of the market Viking International introduced a new ultra budget range of fast moving sizes at extremely competitive prices. A full range review is carried out quarterly and any new sizes or patterns that are pertinent are sourced and added to the range.
Warehouse operations are continually reviewed to maintain and improve service levels. Improvements throughout 2007 included a review of warehouse layout, procedures and van runs, and increased storage capacity. The move to a new purpose built warehouse in Edinburgh in December has doubled the storage capacity for this region. These developments have resulted in both improved delivery accuracy and frequency for all customers and there are further plans to improve operations in 2008.
Viking International’s sales office staff has undergone a major training exercise which has provided an improved ordering service for all customers. This has been supported with a complete redevelopment of Viking International’s on-line ordering facility with significant improvements to speed, navigation and product search options. Product information and images have been added and special offers are highlighted. The site provides statements, invoices and full order history enabling customers to manage their entire account online. Featuring tyres, cats and exhausts, the site has seen impressive growth in the number of on-line orders throughout the year.
Improvements have been made within the sales team which saw the appointment of Kevin Peck as Sales Director at the beginning of the year and his subsequent promotion to Managing Director within six months. Kevin has implemented many major improvements to the company this year which has already seen a substantial increase in sales.
To ensure Viking International continues to meet customer demand, it carries out an on-going ‘Quality of Service’ survey. Customers are contacted each month to find out how they rate Viking International’s product and service offering, demonstrating a real commitment to customer service.
Future plans for the company include further improvements in Viking International’s operations as well as a strengthening of the sales teams and an increased focus on marketing, promotions and their e-commerce offering.
